REVIEW: We had a fantastic time at EUROTOX 2023!
VITROCELL displayed the latest Cloud Alpha Devices: Cloud Alpha 12, Cloud Alpha TRIO, Cloud Alpha MOVE, and Cloud Alpha AX12. Visitors could also check out our advanced Dry Powder Exposure System, PowderX, and a module of a Continuous Flow System.
We want to extend our gratitude to Arunima Sengupta, Ph.D. from ARTORG Center for Biomedical Engineering Research at Universität Bern, Switzerland. She gave a great talk explaining the advantages of a new Lung-on-Chip platform for acute inhalation toxicology using Cloud Alpha AX12.
Furthermore, we’d like to thank Gianni Zarcone from Institut Pasteur de Lille, France, for his excellent presentation comparing heated tobacco products, electronic cigarettes, and conventional cigarettes in terms of generating oxidative stress, genetic, and epigenetic damage using VITROCELL equipment.
Special thanks also go to Andreas Stucki from PETA Science Consortium International e.V. in Stuttgart, Germany, for sharing insights on assessing respiratory toxicity through liquid application and aerosol exposure of surfactants to human cell-based in vitro systems.
In addition, our contributions were featured in two outstanding posters from STAMI – Statens arbeidsmiljøinstitutt Occupational Toxicology in Oslo, Norway, focusing on pulmonary toxicity. Laura Maria Azzurra Camassa used our Cloud System for a sophisticated triple culture system, while Oda Astrid H. Foss compared in-vivo data with in-vitro data, also utilizing a Cloud System.

Four years after our last on-site congress in Helsinki, it is with great pleasure to invite the EUROTOX community to Ljubljana, Slovenia, for the 57th Congress of the European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology.
For the first time ever, the Slovenian Society of Toxicology (https://www.tox.si/), will have the honour of hosting a EUROTOX Congress, to which we would like to welcome all toxicologists working in Europe, but also from all over the world. EUROTOX 2023 will take place from 10 to 13 September 2023.
Under the theme “Toxicology – multidisciplinary science leading to safer and sustainable life” the Local Organising Committee, chaired by Dr. Lucija Perharič, and the Scientific Programme Committee (SPC), chaired by Dr. Thomas Weiser, have put together an inspiring programme covering all aspects of modern toxicology. We are particularly keen to emphasise the breadth of toxicology and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.
However, we would also like to again give special space to our young colleagues to present their latest research results. Therefore, we would like to encourage everyone to submit their abstract for one of the numerous Short Oral Communications Sessions.
Another special feature of EUROTOX 2023 is its hosting city Ljubljana. Although one of the smallest European capitals, Ljubljana is turning into a very popular European destination and attracts more and more visitors each year. Ljubljana is an ancient, but young at heart, Central European city with a touch of Mediterranean flair. It is green, picturesque, compact, culturally vibrant and safe. EUROTOX 2023 will be a congress of friendly distances as the compact city allows participants to quickly move between its historic city center, filled with numerous baroque and Art Nouveau buildings, modern and high-quality hotels, and a long history of culinary excellence resulting in a range of restaurants from traditional to modern at affordable prices, and the congress venue, GR Congress Centre. GR Congress Centre is a spacious venue, offering ample space for the approximately 1,500 expected participants in the plenary and parallel sessions as well as for the poster presentations and exhibition.
