- Aerosol delivery to the exposure wells using this exposure setup can be tailored based on dilution flow, removal of aerosol, and/or the number of puffs taken to meet or exceed OECD assay guidelines.
- Gravimetric measurements are a good approximation for the aerosol mass delivered but do not appear to be sufficiently accurate in comparison to nicotine measurements.
- Aerosol residue was present in the walls of both the 35 mm plates and the 6-well Transwells in some runs (not shown). This may partially help explain some of the observed discrepancy between the gravimetric nicotine estimates and nicotine measurements.
