EUROTOX Congress

October 8, 2007

VITROCELL® SYSTEMS presents new equipment developments for in vitro inhalation toxicology at the EUROTOX 2007 (44th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, October 7-10, 2007

Broad product program of equipment for the in vitro analysis of airborne substances such as gases, nano particles and complex mixtures was presented.

According to the organizing committee, “the congress offers a unique opportunity to exchange ideas on a variety of timely topics, including, for example, the newest developments in toxicogenomics, alternatives for animals testing, risk assessment, immunotoxicity, reproductive toxicity, environmental toxicity, genotoxicity and carcinogenesis, endocrine disruption, molecular toxicology, signal transduction, the risks of nanotechnology, REACH and idiosyncratic effects.

The congress thus will provide an ideal opportunity for all participants to discuss and debate their own special interests and priorities with experts and colleagues.

The theme of the meeting is “Missing links”. In the multidisciplinary field of toxicology with rapid developments, for instance in analytical and “omics”-based techniques and bioinformatics, defining the missing links has become more important than ever. This because definition of the missing links will help making new links to bridge gaps between disciplines and techniques thereby facilitating new discoveries. Toxicologists do have the tools and knowledge to define the missing links and to develop the networks to make the new links required for 21st century toxicology.”

VITROCELL® SYSTEMS participates in the exhibition and presents its broad product program of equipment for the in vitro analysis of airborne substances such as gases, nano particles and complex mixtures. The VITROCELL® product range helps to reduce animal testing in the field of e. g. inhalation toxicology. For this purpose human cells are cultivated in special exposure modules on membranes and then exposed at the air/liquid interface to the test substances. The same technology can also be applied to bacteria. The customers of VITROCELL® are leading medical and environmental research institutes as well as the pharmaceutical and other industries.
