Aerosols & Microbiology 2026 conference, Leeds

June 15, 2026

Yesterday, the Aerosols & Microbiology 2026 conference in Leeds came to a close.

Three days of inspiring discussions highlighted emerging topics including the impact of bioaerosols on climate, air pollution, and the environmental and respiratory aeromicrobiome.

The conference successfully brought together experts from diverse scientific disciplines, demonstrating the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing both health and environmental science.

We were pleased to see growing interest in advanced in vitro exposure technologies, including the lung-on-chip solutions developed together with our cooperation partner AlveoliX. The discussions once again confirmed that, together, we are helping to drive innovation at the forefront of aerosol exposure science.

It was a pleasure to meet with existing customers to discuss new projects and future opportunities. Equally encouraging was the increasing interest from the traditional in vivo community in non-animal methods (NAMs) and human-relevant testing approaches.

Thank you to the Organizers:
Richard Thomas (Dstl), Natalie Garton (University of Leicester),
Simon Clark (UK Health Security Agency), Charlotte Reston (The Pirbright Institute), Simon Gubbins (The Pirbright Institute), Jonathan Reid (University of Bristol), Malin Alsved – Associate Lecturer in Aerosol Technology (Lund University), Paul Dabisch (Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC), Shanna Ratnesar-Shumate, Ph.D. (Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory) and the Microbiology Society for an excellent event.

We look forward to continuing these important conversations and collaborations.
