The Aim of this study was to assess the mutagenicity of an e-cigarette aerosol, compared to cigarette smoke in tester strains TA98 and TA100 using two different exposure matrices, TPM/eTPM (or ACM – aerosol collected matter) and whole aerosol. A Vitrocell® VC 10 Smoking Robot was used to generate aerosol streams from a traditional reference cigarette (3R4F) and e-cigarette (Vype® ePen).

This article shows the successful exposition exposure of cigarette smoke on two different Ames bacteria strains by using the Vitrocell exposure system including the VC10 smoking robot. Conventional 1 mg tar commercial cigarettes (CC1), 1R5F reference cigarettes (University of Kentucky,Lexington, KY, USA), and 3R4F reference cigarettes (University of Kentucky) were compared with a prototype heated cigarette (HC).

VITROCELL® User Group Meeting 2016

11 March 2016, Hilton New Orleans Riverside, USA prior to the Society of Toxicology 55th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo

After a successful User Group Meeting 2015 in the EUROPA-PARK in Germany, International scientists from Europe, Japan and USA followed the invitation of VITROCELL® Systems to the 2016 User Group Meeting.

It offered an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest developments of VITROCELL®, to exchange experiences in working with VITROCELL® devices and to meet fellow researchers. The meeting took place prior to the international Society of Toxicology 55th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo – one of the largest international conferences related to toxicology.

The focus of the event was to present new routes dosimetry, to give an update on VITROCELL’s participation in major European research programs related to nanoparticles as well as the presentation of new products for 2016.
