New Products at VITROCELL® User Group Meeting 2018

Following the VITROCELL® User Group Meeting 2017 in Baltimore, international scientists from Canada, Europe, Japan and USA reconvened in March 2018.

The informal event organized into short presentations and posters was followed by open discussions. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest developments of VITROCELL®, to exchange your experience in working with the equipment and to meet other fellow researchers. The meeting took place prior to the international Society of Toxicology 57th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo, March 11 – 15, 2018, in San Antonio, USA - one of the largest international conferences related to toxicology.

Focus of the event was to share VITROCELL® activities since the last meeting, to exchange latest research results, to give an update on VITROCELL’s participation in major research programs as well as the presentation of new products for 2018.

ACE nano: pursuing analytical and characterisation excellence in nanomaterial risk assessment

Nanomaterials are man-made materials of a size thousands of times smaller than the width of a human hair. They have fascinated scientists and industry with their unique and unpredictable properties, which have given rise to an endless variety of new applications in every sector of technology and medicine. As a result, an ever-increasing number of nanomaterials are entering the market in everyday products spanning from healthcare and leisure to electronics, cosmetics and foodstuffs. However, the novelty in exploitable properties may be mirrored by new hazards and, in order to manage these, a well-founded and robust legislative framework that will ensure safe development of nano-enabled products is needed.

PETA science consortium donates $400K in VITROCELL in vitro test equipment

London -- Today, the PETA International Science Consortium Ltd. announced that it is providing equipment to laboratories working on human-relevant methods to replace the use of animals in inhalation testing. Valued at more than $400,000, VITROCELL Systems inhalation exposure machines were awarded to four institutions in the U.S., U.K., and Belgium that are leading the field of in vitro (non-animal) inhalation toxicology. These donations complement the Consortium's recent workshops and webinars focused on replacing inhalation testing in animals.

The meeting offered an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest developments of VITROCELL®, to exchange experiences in working with VITROCELL® devices and to meet fellow researchers. It was held prior to the International Society of Toxicology 56th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo – one of the largest international conferences related to toxicology.

Focus of the event was to exchange latest research results, to give an update on VITROCELL’s participation in major European and German research programs as well as the presentation of new products for 2017.

VITROCELL® Automated Exposure Station with increased capacity delivered to HICE institute

After successful start-up of the first Automated Exposure Station which was delivered to the nanoMILE consortium last year, VITROCELL® Systems has now delivered the second system with increased capacity to the virtual Helmholtz Institute HICE. The core of the station are 4 VITROCELL® 6/6 CF exposure modules resulting in a total capacity of 24 cell culture inserts in the 6-well size.
